Let’s fix the fact that MobileHelp choices seem so complicated. The choices boil down to just a few key differences. Once you know what they are, it’s easier to choose a medical alert.
Choose MobileHelp medical alert coverage at home, away from home, or both. Choose a landline or cell connection at home. Choose a wearable button and pocket communicator, or a wearable communicator for mobile coverage. Add fall detection to any package, and location tracking to any mobile medical alert.
I know you still have questions, which is why you need to see the decision tree below that will make this so much simpler.
The MobileHelp Medical Alert Choice Made Easy (erh, Easier)
MobileHelp offers 8 products. It took me several hours to sort out which was which. So I know the struggle you’re having trying to figure this out.
If you can answer some questions about your preferences, I can show you the exact right MobileHelp medical alert for your needs.
You will answer some questions about where you want medical alert coverage and equipment types you’d like to carry with you.
Standard Upgrades You Can Always Add
You don’t need to worry about missing out on lockbox, fall detection, or location detection features for the product you buy.
Lockbox is available with all home products. Fall detection is available with all products. And location detection is available with all mobile products.
So you don’t need to worry that the product you choose won’t have one of these options.
The lockbox feature is included with all home medical alerts. This gives first responders access to a locked box containing a key to your home. In case of emergency, they will use this rather than breaking into your home.
Fall detection automatically calls for help when the product detects a fall. It is an optional add with all products.
Location detection allows MobileHelp operators to tell first responders your location. Location detection is an optional add on with every mobile product.
You can add location tracking to give first responders your location to any mobile package, so set this aside from your next steps as well.
Choose Where You Want Medical Alert Coverage
The first choice that will substantially cut down on which system you choose is where you want coverage. Your choices are Home, Away from Home (Mobile), or Both.
In the table below, you see Home Coverage in blue, Home and Away Coverage in Orange, and Away Coverage in yellow.
Choose where you want coverage to narrow your product choices down to 2 to 3 MobileHelp products.
- For Home-Only coverage, you will be choosing from the Classic, Touch Classic, and Wired.
- For Home and Away coverage, you will be choosing from the Duo and Touch Duo.
- For Away-Only coverage, you will be choosing from the Solo, Mobile Duo, and Micro.
I’ll explain the rest of the items in the table below.

The MobileHelp Medical Alert That Includes Everything
To get all possible coverage options, add Fall Detection, Medication Reminders, and GPS Tracking to the Duo or Touch Duo.
The only difference is that the Duo uses a hardware call box at home, and the Touch Duo uses a computer tablet. That’s the only choice you need to make.
Complete coverage using the Duo or Touch Duo includes:
- coverage at home
- coverage away from home
- fall detection
- GPS tracking (location detection)
- lockbox access for first responders
- medication reminders
Go back to the table’s orange column to view your Duo and Touch Duo choices.
The Duo has a traditional home base station, and the Touch Duo has a computer tablet.
Both allow you to speak and be heard from 600 ft. away. The base station and tablet have sensitive microphones and loud speakers for you to speak with the operator even when you’re across the house form your base station or tablet.
The Touch Duo tablet also allows you to setup your account over the tablet instead of a computer web browser. It handles the optional medication reminder and MobileVitals features.
MobileVitals is a diary for weight, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and glucose readings that you input yourself. It’s not that it’s taking these vitals from devices, it’s a diary to record the information in one place. The Touch Duo tablet also has some games such as Sudoku, and a photo gallery app.
Add fall detection, GPS tracking, and medication reminders for complete home and away protection.
When home, you will wear a pendant button to communicate with the base station or computer tablet.
When away from home, you will wear a pendant button and carry a mobile communication device in your pocket or purse.
If I were choosing, I would get the Duo rather than the Touch Duo. The Duo’s home base station has a long record of working as intended.

How to Get Home-Only MobileHelp Medical Alert Protection
To get home-only coverage, without fall detection and medication reminders, choose the Classic, Classic Touch, or Wired medical alert.
The MobileHelp Classic, Classic Touch, and Wired plans provide home-only medical alert protection. Add fall detection to either plan. Lockbox access for first responders’ entry to the home is included.
You can add medication reminders to the Classic and Classic Touch plans. Medication reminders is not available on Wired because it uses a landline rather than a cell connection.
The Classic, Classic Touch, and Wired plans with all options include:
- coverage at home
- fall detection
- lockbox access for first responders
- medication reminders
Go to the table’s blue column to view your home coverage choices.
- The Classic uses a hardware base station for the call box and connects over MobileHelp’s cellular
- The Classic Touch uses a computer tablet base station and connects over MobileHelp’s cell
- The Wired uses a hardware base station for the call box and connects over your home landline.
You setup the base station at a central point in the home. The base station has sensitive microphones to pick up your voice, and loud speakers so you can hear the MobileHelp operator.
Press the button on the call box if you’re right there, or use your wearable button from as far as 600 ft. from the base station to speak with an operator.
- For home-only coverage using a hardware call box and a landline, get the Wired at MobileHelp.com.
- For home-only coverage using a hardware call box and a cellular connection, get the Classic at MobileHelp.com.
- For home-only coverage using a computer tablet call box and a cellular connection, get the Touch Classic at MobileHelp.com.
How to Get Mobile-Only MobileHelp Medical Alert Protection
To get mobile-only coverage, with or without fall detection, location detection, and medication reminders, choose the Solo, Mobile Duo, or Micro medical alert.
The MobileHelp Solo, Mobile Duo, and Micro plans provide mobile-only medical alert protection. Add fall detection and location tracking to any of these plans.
The Solo, Mobile Duo, and Micro include:
- coverage away from home
- fall detection
- GPS tracking (location detection)
Go to the table’s yellow column to view your mobile coverage choices.
The Solo and Mobile Duo give you a wearable button and a mobile communicator you carry in your pocket or purse. The Solo gives you one button and communicator, and the Mobile Duo gives you two of each.
The Micro gives you a mobile communicator that you wear and that you activate on the communicator itself.
The Micro is for the person who doesn’t mind a slightly clunkier pendant to cut down on complexity. The Micro pendant is the communication device.
With the Solo and Mobile Duo, press the wearable button to open communication with the pocket device.
With the Micro, press the mobile communicator button to open communication without the need for a separate wearable button.
- For mobile-only coverage for one person using a button to activate a pocket device, get the Solo.
- For mobile-only coverage for two people using a button to activate a pocket device, get the Mobile Duo.
- For mobile-only coverage for one person using a mobile communicator with no wearable button, get the Micro.
Add fall detection and GPS location (location detection) for complete mobile protection.

How to Save on Complete At-Home and Mobile Medical Alert Coverage
MobileHelp makes the mobile-only options for people who need medical alert coverage away from home but not at home.
But you can use a mobile solution at home to save money.
You can use the same system that’s meant for away-from-home while you’re in the house.
The advantage of this idea is that you are buying a cheaper plan and getting home and away coverage.
The disadvantage of using mobile at home is that you must carry your mobile device with you in the home.
While a dedicated home system allows you to ask for help from up to 600 ft. away from the base station, this hybrid workaround means you must carry your mobile communicator and pendant with you around the home.
But using a mobile plan at home saves money over buying a complete coverage plan.
- For mobile-only coverage (that you use at home too) for one person using a button to activate a pocket device, get the Solo.
- For mobile-only coverage (that you use at home too) for two people using a button to activate a pocket device, get the Mobile Duo.
- For mobile-only coverage (that you use at home too) for one person using a mobile communicator with no wearable button, get the Micro.
